I was flipping through some magazines in my down time (with a nine month old plus a hairstyling business I don’t have a lot lately!) and, as always, slowed down as I hit the fashion section. Redbook headline: “The Jean Jacket is Timeless” – I couldn’t agree more. I always had one growing up but my most recent jean jacket purchase was from the Gap in 2000. I was in grade ten. I loved this jacket then and I love this jacket now. I don’t think there’s any other item of clothing in my wardrobe that has been with me that long!
Why should you never part with a jean jacket?
Flash forward to the 10’s (is that what we’re calling it?) and it’s still looking oh-so fashionable! If my Grandma had saved hers for me, I’d be wearing it. Especially if my Grandma was Marilyn. :)
Jean jackets are perfect for any season and it’s so versatile. Wear it over a hoodie and tights in the winter for a cool and casual look. Wear it over a t-shirt dress with some great boots and a scarf for fall and spring. In the summer a jean jacket looks awesome over a maxi dress. You can also wear denim with denim, but the right way to do it “right now” is avoid the matchy-matchy denim look! As long as the denim’s are different shades you can actually pair them together.
Lots of celebrities have been spotted rockin’ the look while pregnant too! I’m sure it’s because it adds texture to any outfit and when your having a hot flash just lose the jacket. Here we see Reese sporting one in many different styles! Dressy, casual and maternity! And again it’s one of those pieces you don’t need to buy “maternity” sized or styled (always a perk!).
Did I mention I lived in a denim blouse while nursing?! Throw it over your nursing tank and your nursing in comfort and style. My denim shirt had great coverage. It’s is light and gives easy access to your nursing tank.
What are you waiting for mama-to-be? If you don’t already own one, warm up in a jean jacket this fall! :)
